Dear friends and family,
I am back home! The surgery went really well. I was afraid I would be scared or lonely when it came time for the surgery to start but I wasn't. The truth is I barely remember that part at all. They started the anesthesia when I still had family around me.
I have two tubes sticking out of me that must be drained every few hours and a pain pump that hangs around my neck. I am sore and stiff but that is all. The scars are a little tough to take, but I know they are temporary and I feel at peace with my decision. Every day I feel better. I am so pleased to have made it downstairs to the computer by myself. That is my accomplishment for the day!
I am spending most of my time hanging out in the recliner watching TV while my wonderful husband waits on me hand and foot. (Sigh, it's a hard life). He is so wonderful. You all have been so wonderful. God is so good.
Laura and Leslie are up in VA with my sister Mitzi. Randy and I miss them but we know they are having a great time.
Thank you all so much for your prayers. Lots of love,
Kerry
Hey Kerry, I've been thinking and praying for you. You sound great!! I know your sister is having so much fun with your girls and Heather. She's calling them her Brady bunch. Today Laura and Leslie spent some time here at my house with my girls. They all decided to play in the mud. Girls and mud, who knew. Right now Meredith and John are taking the girls and all 3 of mine back to their house. (They're a pair of brave souls.) Nine total -Wow!! Well, keep up the good work. We're all looking forward to seeing you soon.
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs,
Renee
Hello Kerry, So glad to see you can make it around the house a little and thanks for the update. Danny and I have been saying prayers for you both. Peace to you and Russell. Just got in from camping at Big South Fork. Hang on. You WILL be back and able to do your thang soon. Speedy healings to you my sister. Surviving to Share,
ReplyDeleteEvie
You are awesome, Kerry! It was such a pleasure to see your blog comment pop up on my Blackberry! I think you're the only one who reads it haha!;) All joking aside, you are one of the strongest folks I know and I'm glad to know you.
ReplyDeleteHi Kerry, I have been keeping the crowd in Ft. Lauderdale posted--so you must have heard a BIG Hurrah from them on Thursday night. Jim, Nancy and crew send their prayers. Matt and Melissa send prayers also--we're all waiting for the baby to arrive. Melissa looks so good and she's so calm. We love you lots and lots. You are a brave lady. Love, Aunt Pat
ReplyDeleteHi Kerry,
ReplyDeleteYou are doing such a great job! Look at you going up and down those steps. You will be back to full form shortly. You can't keep a Booth woman down, right Aunt Pat?
Speaking of Booth women, we have lots up here! Laura, Leslie and Stephen have been working hard on a tunnel, the "swing of death" (it is a rope swing on a tree)and finding treasure. These are all big jobs that require lots of action (and dirt, amazing amounts of dirt). Heather has been wonderful. Leslie lost her stuffed animal yesterday (crisis) and Heather saved the day. It is so much fun to see them all grow up.
The boys don't know what to do with all this pink. They can face down a snake without flinching, but Leslie missing her stuffed animal was another matter. They all looked like "deer in headlights". It was funny.
Leslie just came down the stairs and saw your blog. Leslie said to tell you that she is having fun.
Take care of yourself, Kerry.
Remember how much we all love you.
Mitzi
Kerry,
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling well enough to go up and down the stairs! That is great. I saw your girls briefly yesterday (Sunday). Mike and I were out in the yard preparing for an end of the year flag football party. First Maggie and Laura came through the yard on their bikes, then Dana and Leslie came bouncing through the yard in the Barbie Jeep! They all stopped and said hello and asked what we were doing. We told them we were having Zach's football party and about 12 rowdy boys would be coming soon. I have never seen anyone leave in such a hurry!!!! :)
Your girls are beautiful! I know you miss them, but they are in wonderful hands with your sister. I am sure the girls are staying so busy during the day and probably crash as soon as their heads hit the pillow at night!
Take care and keep gaining your strength back. We are looking forward to seeing you later this summer.
Love,
Shelly
Dear Sweet Kerry,
ReplyDeleteIt is so wonderful to have such a great support group of family and prayer warriors isn't it :-) I just love reading all the messages and am so touched that there are so many people that love you and are praying for you. Their support makes such a difference to me and I know it does to you.
I am tickled that the girls are having such a good time at Mitzi's. I know Heather is thrilled. Mitzi took her shopping and actually let her buy something(She says that I NEVER buy her anything :-) and even let her pick out some makeup!! She gets to Hang with the cousins and give them clothes advice( which I'm sure they really appreciate) and Aunt Mitzi made her lasagna! I am going to have a lot to live up to when she comes back home:-)
Mitzi, thanks so much for loving our children as your own and showing them that love in so many different ways. I hear that Laura and Leslie have been seen in Barbie jeeps and swimming pools all over King George:-) Thanks also to our King George friends who have allowed our children to feel at home with you!! Kerry, Randy and I are really looking forward to seeing you all in July!
Kerry, we will keep praying that your stamina and healing proceed quickly and that you are up to your normal activities soon. I am so thankful that your surgery went well with no complications and that you are recovering well. I love you dearly and am so proud of you!!
Your big sis,
Shannon
Hi Kerry,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are home and doing well. Meredith has been keeping me updated via e-mail on your progress. I am also glad your girls are enjoying their visit here in King George. It's a great place to hang out! I pray that each passing day gives you greater strength and endurance. I am looking forward to your visit in July and hope I can meet you all when you come up! Until then....
God's Blessings upon you,
Michelle
